I grew up in Maryland for eight years, then in South Alabama at a sister CBM camp from age nine until I moved to Florida in 2009. I met my wife, Kayla, at the church I attended in Tampa. We have three children: Analise, Cassidy and Micah.

My wife Kayla and I have served at Camp Gilead since 2022.

My spiritual gifts are serving and mercy

My favorite verse is Psalm 119:9-11:

“How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.
With my whole heart I seek you; Let me not wander from your commandments! I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”

I love that Camp Gilead is a place for children to experience activities they might not
typically do, hear truth from the Bible, and be impacted by the Word of God.

Something unique about me is I love to go spelunking - exploring caves.

Kayla Shertzer

I am a born and raised Floridian. I grew up in Deland, Fl, where my parents still live. I moved to Tampa Florida to attend the University of South Florida. I met my husband, Ben, at a church in Tampa. We have three children: Analise, Cassidy and Micah.

My husband Ben and I have served at Camp Gilead since Autumn of 2022.

My spiritual gifts are discernment and mercy.

My favorite thing about Camp Gilead is that we are here to further the kingdom and reach children and families with the Gospel of Christ. My desire is the Lord allows us to serve here for years to come.

My favorite Bible verse is Psalm 46:1:

“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble,”

This has been a constant reminder that God is my stronghold, and I can lean on Him in all situations.

Something unique about me is I fell in love with building Legos as an adult after Ben bought me the Winnie the Pooh Tree House Lego set.
