Curtis
Executive Director
I grew up and lived my entire life in Northern KY, across the river from Cincinnati, Ohio. I am the middle of three children, with and older sister and younger sister. My wife, Mary Beth, and I were married in 1989, and we have two grown sons and an elementary-aged granddaughter. Our sons are in Murfreesboro, TN, and Cleveland OH, where our granddaughter also lives. Mary Beth and I moved to Lakeland FL in 2019 to be near my aging parents, who are now in their mid-eighties.
Since moving to FL, as an avid fisherman, I became involved in serving at Camp Gilead Fish Camp. I was asked to serve on the Board of Directors and very soon after, joining the Board, was asked to serve as chairman of the Board. In July, 2025, CBM headquarters asked Mary Beth and I to consider stepping in to the role of Executive Directors at Camp Gilead. It became official in late November of 2025.
I am a retired school Superintendent with a career of leading organizations and staff. My passion is organizational leadership.
My spiritual gifts are administration and serving.
What I love most about Camp Gilead is the commitment to share the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are expanding this sharing to include families and the surrounding communities. This is very exciting, and my wife and I ask the Lord daily to bless these efforts.
My favorite Bible verse is Galatians 2:20:
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
This is a picture of how I have determined to live my life; as one who has died with Christ, is a new creature in Christ, and lives by faith. My life belongs to Him.
Something unique about me that many may not know is I was married on April Fool’s Day. I suppose we were just two fools in love then, and two fools in love now!
Mary Beth
Executive Director, Florida Bible Training Program
I grew up in Northern KY across the river from Cincinnati, OH. I am number seven of eight children in my family, who all still reside in the greater Cincinnati area. My husband Curtis and I have two grown sons who live in Murfreesboro, TN, and Cleveland, OH. Our granddaughter lives in Cleveland also. We moved to Lakeland, Fl, in 2019 to be close to aging parents, who are now in their mid- eighties.
I retired from education as a school counselor. I am an author and public speaker.
Curtis and I began our journey together at Camp Gilead in late Nov. 2025.
My spiritual gifts are the gifts of knowledge, teaching, wisdom, exhortation, and discernment.
What I love most about Camp Gilead is living out the goal of sharing the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with every person who steps foot on our property. The possibilities of what the Lord will do with this goal are endless, and I ask Him to pour His power into the Truth we share.
My favorite Bible verse is Psalm 73:25:
“Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth I desire besides you.”
This is the Godward life, seeking the Lord above all so that everything else fades. It is living a life free of idolatry with Jesus as my Highest Valued Treasure!
My hopes and dreams for Camp Gilead are that this camp becomes a beacon and buttress of Truth to Polk City and the surrounding communities. My hopes are that the Florida Bible Training Center becomes a haven for Spiritual Truth where men and women come to feed their souls. My dream is this Bible Training Center would long outlive me and become more than I could ever hope or imagine, all for the glory of the Lord.
Something unique about me that many don’t know is that I can ride a unicycle. I taught myself when I was about ten years old. I may go join the circus if it comes to town!
